Introduction

My model railroad - electronics and railbuilding

A couple of years ago, I finally was able to pick up my old hobby from childhood days – model railroading. Of course, when I started out, it was just a simple set, to build up and break up again afterwards. So it was all simple electronics: a Fleischmann transformer with rotary control, some wires to a single connection rail, and off I went. Of course, I had only a single locomotive, a german diesel shunter, and a couple of railcars.
When I started again, things were completely different: things had progressed on all fronts: the rolling stock was much more detailed, and there was ample choice in countries and time frame to situate your layout in. After some short deliberation, I decided on my favourite niche: German 'epoch I', the beginning of the railroading era, with mostly steam locomotives, and lots of colourful material of all the different local railway companies. I bought some tracks and rolling stock, mostly from eBay or the local Dutch auction sites, and started building.
